About BUST
The Breast-cancer Unit Support Trust was established in 1991 by three patients who had been treated for breast cancer at Frenchay Hospital. They were alerted to the pressing need for specialist equipment, unavailable on the NHS, to provide quicker and better diagnosis of breast abnormalities and decided to set up a group to raise money for this. The charity’s prime aim is still to raise funds to purchase the latest technology for the benefit of patients.
Approximately 20,000 patients per year attend the Bristol Breast Care Centre, including a significant number of male patients. The numbers will continue to grow in line with the increased awareness of breast disease.
